GILLESPIES TO CREATE LANDSCAPE PARK AT PRAVDA APARTMENT COMPLEX

13/08/2020

It marks the third collaboration between PSN Group and landscape designers Gillespies, following the successful construction of an English garden at the Polyanka/44 luxury mansion complex and a spacious park and intimate courtyards at the SREDA residential quarter.

The Pravda park zone will cover 1.6 hectares — more than half the entire territory of the apartment complex. Such a space allows for special-purpose sites, taking into account the most varied requirements and recreational interests of future residents.

The landscape concept was greatly influenced by constructivism in art and design, as well as the historical legacy of the cult newspaper Pravda. For this reason, only high-quality, durable materials such as concrete, wood, and steel were selected. The idea of newspaper pages keeping people informed of day-to-day events was the inspiration behind the parkland design.

Oliver Smith, partner at Gillespies:

“We created each outdoor space of the Pravda park as a separate newspaper page with its own individual and unique content and character. This way, we aim to offer residents a wide variety of opportunities to fit everyone's needs. The geometric shapes and patterns are reminiscent of works from the Russian era of constructivism. In creating the organic space, we used textured canopies, walkways, and gazebos designed for year-round use, sheltered from wind and rain. Many zones and facilities are multipurpose — for example, the basketball court can be easily converted into a dance floor, event stage, or ice rink during the winter season.”

The entire park is traversed by a central alleyway, which connects the pedestrian entrance to the territory with the driveway to the underground parking lot. This zone will feature a green area covered by a lawn, artificial hills, pines, shadbush, and cherry trees. There will also be a yoga area. Naturally, the Pravda park zone is a car-free area, so the parking lot is accessible from one side of the street.

Fans of outdoor activities are sure to appreciate the multifunctional sports ground, exercise equipment, and basketball court. There will be a separate area for board games and other sports, including chess and table-tennis. In addition, a special system of circular pedestrian and cycle paths has been designed for walking, running, cycling, and Nordic walking (with poles).

A separate area with canopies and USB chargers will serve as an excellent alternative to the office, while in the evening friends and neighbors can gather for a barbeque literally a stone's throw from home. For children, playgrounds for different age groups will be available.

Oliver Smith, partner at Gillespies:

“We paid special attention to the selection of plants, adding apple, maple, linden, and a large fir tree for the winter holidays. Plus there are many other deciduous and evergreen trees, shrubs, perennials, and herbs. This kind of park will enable residents to relax and socialize at any time of the year, do sport, and play with their kids in a totally natural environment, in both the daytime and evening thanks to the sophisticated lighting scheme.”
