The history of Business Quarter Novospassky dates back to 1823, when a small cotton-printing workshop was established on the site by the Swiss manufacturer Bucher. The original factory, employing about 500 workers, featured buildings of a wooden construction. Years later, his heirs having taken charge, new red-brick production buildings were erected by E. Zindel Cotton-Printing Manufacture Partnership.
In the years that followed, the enterprise grew until it was operating branches and warehouses not in Moscow, Narofominsk and Nizhny Novgorod alone, but also in Cinanfu, China, and the Uzbek cities of Tashkent, Kokand, and Khiva. E. Zindel had taken the factory to the leading position in Russia's cotton-printing industry. Known as E. Zindel In Moscow, the factory continued to operate until 1915. In Soviet times it was renamed to become the 1st Cotton-Printing Factory. In 1978, it changed its name once again, this time to Moskhlopprom Association's Cotton-Printing Factory.
In 2006, the production workshops were converted to office buildings, as part of the first reconstruction phase. Having been redeveloped, the factory's low-rise buildings with their original decorated brick faces and attics now create an inviting and comfortable artistic atmosphere. The developer's solicitous attitude to the legacy of the past has helped breathe new life into this unique 19th-century property.
In 2014, following the second reconstruction phase, the development was rebranded to Business Quarter Novospassky.
